According to the English Premier League betting market, the premiership is a two-horse race between fierce Manchester rivals City and United. Tottenham and Chelsea, who round out the top four, have been all but written off, which is interesting considering we are only just over half-way through the season, which finishes on May 13.
Manchester City currently sits on top of the EPL ladder, and is a clear favourite to claim the premiership. Manchester United are just one game behind City but are paying a bit over $3 for the premiership, which could be considered a bit long for the reigning champions. The Red Devil’s recent 2-1 win against Arsenal was vital for their premiership hopes, but the win came at a price. Phil Jones, Nani, Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Patrice Evra sustained injuries and cast some doubts on Manchester United’s depth.
Perhaps these injuries, combined with Manchester United’s jam-packed schedule which includes FA Cup ad Europa League fixtures, has raised doubts about the side’s ability to sustain its form for the entirety of the season.
Manchester City is well placed to at least maintain the gap over Manchester United over the next month, even if they are without controversial Italian Marco Balotelli, who faces a four-week ban. It would be a brave punter who bets against Manchester City at home. City has won all 11 home games so far, and has conceded just six goals at Eastlands. Their away record is not as impressive – they’ve won six, lost three and drew two.
Mouths are already starting to water for the Manchester City versus Manchester United clash on April 28. It could well prove crucial to the either team’s premiership title quest. City embarrassed United with a 6-0 crushing earlier in the season, but the Reds salvaged some pride with a 3-2 win over City in the FA Cup.
It’s not just near the top of the table that you can survey EPL betting options. There’s plenty to bet on near the bottom of the table. Cellar dwellers Wigan Athletic are raging hot favourites to be relegated. Punters have also got Blackburn, Wolverhampton and Bolton on the chopping block. Newly promoted team QPR is also in danger of relegation.
Other newly promoted teams Norwich and Swansea look safe from relegation, with Norwich favourite to finish the EPL season as the top-ranked promoted team. There could be some value in Swansea, who is only a game behind Norwich and playing an attractive brand of possession football. It might not be a star-studded team, but coach Brendan Rodgers has got Swansea playing the kind of fluent, attacking football that brought Arsenal undone recently.
With plenty of football still to be played the EPL betting market is likely to fluctuate quite a bit between now and the end of the season. Why not visit Luxbet and have a look at some of the best odds on offer?
